Did anyone look into the Don't Ask, Don't Tell? It opened my eyes when i saw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG5VK2lquEc Lady Gaga's message to the USA Senat.

It's such a same it didnt work. USA is very strict on the gay community. Here in norway, homosexuals are not to unusual in the open anymore. ALot of my friends are homosexual/bisexual and I think it's such a shame people discriminate people due to their sexuality.

Go debate.. !!

People who go around parading the fact they are gay / bisexual are idiots. People can be what they want to be, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. But there's no need to constantly go on about it or see it as some kind of trophy. At the end of the day noone really cares.

And you can serve in the American army if you are gay. Just not allowed inappropriate behaviour or to be "openly gay". I don't see why anyone would say "hey guys I'm gay!" anyway. Not expected to be asked either so there you go.

You can't give blood in the UK if you've taken part in gay activities. Higher risk etc. but I guess that's a whole different argument.

Call me stupid but I didn't know that lol:) Back to the discussion.. Well I do agree that people shouldn't go tell everyone they're gay.. I get that. But still. Not long ago my friends here in norway would all be bullied for beeing gay even though they tried to hide it. And for what it comes to with the US Army they should all be equal

Yes but everyone gets bullied at school in some way. Gay is a very generic form of bullying. Everything is gay etc. People are far more accepting of people than people like to give credit for. Can't stand people who think they're being discriminated on over their sexual preferences.

Only idiots would actually dislike someone based on sexual preferences. There's just a fear of being accepted but I'd rather be bullied by everyone than lying to myself about who I am.

I agree in an ideal world everyone would be equal but the fact is the world doesn't work like this. Women get paid less than men blabla. Gay people can still join the army. Just can't be open about it. I'm fairly sure if I went to the army and said HEY I WANT TO BLOW ALL THEM *racist word* TO HELL YEHHHHHHH I wouldn't get in either.

I think the problem with Don't Ask, Don't Tell is that they're too strict about it. I hear stories of people getting kicked our just because it became known that they were gay, not that they were parading it about, but just because it came up. America as a whole is massively homophobic (not all of them, mostly the deep South) and it permiates into their policies of homosexuality. Only a couple of states (to my knowledge) even allow gay marriage.

I am very friendly with a gay man. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but it's true!

True. I do accept the gay people but it can be excessive with those people who makes such a big deal about it, but there's also those who don't and I gues it sucks for them if people who exaggerated the term of beeing gay. But why is people making fun of gay like you said: "THats so gay" blabla. people who bully others cuz they think they're better or they feel better that way. Is that so much better than beeing scared of showing who you are? If you bully you dont excatly show the true you..well if you do.. thats just sad..

Yes that's true but we're talking about an age where people are very insecure. How many people say footballers are wimps because they don't play rugby. Or computer users are geeks etc. School is one big stereotype and it's part of growing up.

I know a few gay people and the ones who don't parade it are in the minority. I don't go around being all like BTW IM STRAIGHT!

Discimination is wrong, but there will always be discrimination in some way and that will never be changed. Just need to make strides into changing peoples opinions (though generally it's a generation thing, as each generation gets older views on certain issues become more tolerable).

And no gay person can get married in the UK (civil partnership l0l)

WHAT?! Ok I can deal with all the bully stuff. But not beeing able to marry the person you love..wtf is wrong with that? You should be allowed to marry and have kids with the person you love. Why is that wrong?

You can get a civil partnership. Which gives you the same rights as people if you were married. It's just not called marriage lol.

You can adopt kids as well as a stable homosexual relationship (generally more unstable from the gay people i know xD).

On debate: Gay/Bisexuals who parade around claiming that they are gay/bisexual are morons.

homophobes are idiots - period.
and unless someone can prove to me being gay is guaranteed to impede your decision making, response time or ability to follow orders i will say that the law is completely ridiculous and laughable. I don't even know how anyone would make a logical case for it? O.o

This is what I meant by marriage anyway. Civil partnership is effectively the same thing, it's the legal rights that are important at the end of the day, and these are denied in a vast majority of US states (and have even been added then further removed in some). I think the reason it's not called marriage in the UK is either semantics on the word or appeasing the anti-gay crowd a little.

I agree completely that it shouldn't be a major talking point for those who are gay, it should just be a fact of them, neither hidden nor paraded. However, with this Don't Ask, Don't Tell thing it seems to me it's pretty much about hiding it completely.

And i belive that this is the fact that people are against. Such as Lady Gaga making a statement to the senate.
