The possibility that the 9/11 attacks (and similar before which) could have been orchestrated is absurd. Especially as America is not/was not too desperate for the supply of middle eastern oil. With more then enough domestic fields to tide them over if anything serious did happen there.

But yes, it is disturbing that they would propose this, and even consider taking it to the defence sec.
