When I have the spare time I will compose a song that can be called the "Techious Theme" if approved by admins etc etc.
First before I begin, what themes/ideas/motifs should be in a piece for Techious?

Bonus: if all goes well quickly, members can request a theme for themselves to be written if they want

As I was saying to..McWill i recon it was, is that at the techious lan 2010 we should have like a time where people can show their talents/interests. Like playing music/show their art whatever people do in their freetime.

A talent competition for the LAN would be good but it depends if we can get round to it- during LAN09 we planned a Karaoke that never occurred due to lack of time.

But I heard previous lan was 1 day? I would suggest a bit longer lan if its possible to rent somewhere and just charge a higher entrance ticket. Like a weekend maybe a bit longer. Definatly gonna be worth it. SOcial + fun. + more fun:) Its one thing to know eachother and be social online steam/games/forum, but its a whole other thing irl. You guys have meet before though I havent. And besides I'll be coming all the way from Norway. probably gonna cost me some money as well.

Well i don't know if it should be like a talent competition or a talent show. But karaoke sounds fun yeah. these are all social stuff you can do at any time of the day at a lan. There are plenty of ideas, but loads of organisation. But i'd happily help organise something like a talen thing, if people are up for it.

I will probably not be so helpful in finding a place to stay etc though I live far away:P

We may try for a 2 day thing this year, but we'll see, it becomes a lot more difficult

I'd love to help planning that stuff out but I HAVE NO ORIENTATION what so ever in ENgland. Nor do I know prices, places, etc. Though I'll happily come a few days in advance to help out getting the lan rdy

Well just to throw this in but lan was one day and not overnight due to the venue, i managed to get us the hall from 6 am till 12am, But we couldn't operate or do anything or sleep in the hall.

If there was a different venue perhaps? but i dont know any that'll accomadate everything overnight etc. And im sure you remember the problems with transport and setting up! lol.

Nah it was good and i provided some tents etc of which aload fo us stayed in the night before and after the LAN. The LAN over a weekend? maybe but depends on venue or if we mind transporting there and back TWICE.

The Hayes in Swanwick (Derbyshire)has hosted LAN events before, I've inquired about overnight events but I do know they have rooms to rent so transport wouldn't be an issue during the time we are there.

The price (as of yet unknown but I have asked for the price of 35 people + a room each + two meals a day (I think)) which with all that included will be a tad more than last time.

I'm looking into this to see if it is a viable option at all although I sincerely hope so because I doubt beebee could handle another 5am start.

The problem with anywhere not Gloucestershire is that we (the staff) have to be there fairly early and bring a lot of stuff, so it's much better for us if we do it close to us.

Also, the idea of a place with catering and overnight rooms will likely get very expensive for everyone.

in Norway we used to have a fall lan (where i lived before). lasting 1 week. And we'd sleep in the gymnastic hall those who wanted that and those who lived close just went home and slept coming back in the morning. catering + rooms to sleepin would be too expensive. But a cheaper option like we did isn't so bad as it sounds. For food its possible there's a store close by? people could eighter buy some food themselves, or pizzas or something not too expensive could be ordered (like i assume u aldry did last time).

A lan party close to those rigging it up is probably the best ofc, and as i said, i dont mind coming earlier to help out with this matter.
