Anyway, I'm downloading now, but even to 2mbps broadband, 554MB is a fair bit! (They should have used .wmv compressed, not .avi uncompressed)!

I know you have little patience with stuff like this, but I urge you to watch it all though. I watched a really low res version (downloaded at school).

Hopefully I will be getting the high res version off Black Flash.

Watch it. The CGI, and the acting is amazing. Good plot too.

Maybe when I have some free time, but at the mo I usually watch films "in the background" and having to read subtiles takes it out of that possibility.

Wow, that was good (apart from having to read the subtitles). The battle scene was fantastic. It was all great.

It's not uncompressed avi, its xvid, (read it backwards and youll see what it is like) and it is quite a good compression, you can get a hour tv in hi def in just under 300mb, but thats when you know what you're doing

Oh, OK, they still should've used a different filetype. I hate avi (it crashes my PC). Anyway, I found the reason it was taking so long was actually because my wireless card kept loosing connection, thus resulting in a connection speed of 0KB/s for about 5 seconds while it re-aquired a signal.

I just spent my day converting the avi (216 mb low res) file to dvd format. I then burnt it to re-writable (I will put the high res one from black-flash to a writeable) dvd. The quality is actually good on the tv, even though it's low res.

Yesterday I tried the same thing. 10 hours converting, and I end with a 6.5gb mpg that can't be played by anything except real-alternative (media player classic). The dvd player couldn't play the mpg.

However, the new thing I tried took only 2 hours, and it worked.

And Grim, try using media player classic to play the video. If that doesn't work, try downloading the X Video Converter. Then convert the video to wmv. That should work. IF you do use it, be patient. It sits on 0% and works it's way up slowly (for the mpg conversion anyway). DO NOT USE THIS TO MAKE IT DVD COMPATABLE. IT IS THE MISTAKE I MADE.

Erm, the fact that I've played it already means I can play it. It's just explorer.exe crashes whenever I do anything with an avi file, even mouse over it.

Anyway, it looks good on the TV because TVs are low res.

Anyway, DVDs aren't mpgs, IIRC they are put into a DVD only format - .VOB. There are multiple files for a DVD and they are also split between sound and image.

As you may have guessed, I do make DVDs sometimes.

Oh. I should of realised that you could watch it, if you were saying how good it was. :oops:

Never mind. I have a slightly off topic question here, it seems to me that we are the only people posting apart from connected earlier. Where is everyone? At least I could be bothered to post a few things. 8)
