So hey, I need some help.

I want to remove the white background from a logo and replace it with a black background. However, the logo is aliased and the JPEG compression really hurts it.

Here is the logo:

Here is the A zoomed in to 800%:

Here is the white background selected (threshold 15, aliasing selected, no feather):

Here is after the white background is removed, and replaced with a black background:

How do I make it blend without the white parts of the blue logo?

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Hmm... Managed to do something by inverting the colours, duplicating the layer, inverting the colours on the new layer, and applying a layer filter.

Colour to Alpha in the Gimp under the Colours menu can make the background transparent as well if you like.

Sorry, I did try colour to alpha, but it removed too much of the logo (the grey part was very transparent)

Ended up making this.

I think it's ok but it's not blue ;)
