Get familiar with Hammer first. There are plenty of tutorials out there to get you started. Start with the original Half-Life 2, and get the hang of brush work, texturing, and using entities.

I have two sites I can recommend.

http://developer.valvesoftware.com/

This is the official Valve website on all things SDK. It contains a lot of useful information, and a few tutorials, however they can be quite merciless on people who are new to this sort of thing I found. Still, if you ever get stuck on wanting to know what something is, chances are it is on there.

For more user-friendly tutorials, check out Interlopers.

http://www.interlopers.net/tutorials/

That is a direct link to their tutorials page, but there are a few so I suggest using the search function on the top-right of the page if you have some idea of what you are looking for.

If all else fails, check out their forums.

http://www.interlopers.net/forum/

The search box at the top-right changes to a 'search forums' box, so use that to search for any particular threads.

Finally, there is always those of us on these forums who have some experience of Hammer (Me, Wigouche, azcn2503).

I am tempted to make a tutorial if I could think of what people would want. There's quite a few 'the basics' out there.

I will make something on request if people want. My voice is awful though. Time to stop being hiding from it. :X

EDIT: I need to know what software you were using Dragon if I did make a video.

Either, camstudio in the first one and I recorded the audio seperately, or a "FREE TRIAL" (Pirate) of Camtasia Studio, which records the audio as well as screen caps, I guess you could also use FRAPS, but apparently that has...issues with Hammer
