HLStatsX Reforming

By popular demand, I have converted HLStatsX to reset once a month. But because we're better than that, I created it so the previous months are archived and the original full stats are still there, and we can have extra stats systems running ontop, and alot of other stuff... so presenting the new Techious Gaming Statistics Website:

Server Upgrade Update Thread

Techious Server s1 is being updated today. This thread will keep everyone up to date on how this is happening and how far we have got so far. There will be some downtime for the website, but you can also keep up to date by following the Techious Twitter feed that Si will be keeping up to date.

Current Status (as of 11:57 GMT): All important data is being backed up to Si's hard drives. The payload is about 60GB and is expected to be down'd by 17:00 GMT.

You may not be aware but we've gone past a massive step.

Techious is currently 5!!! It's hard to believe how fast these 5 years have gone. So 2004 we started, we're here in 2009 (suprisingly).

All Techious Services have been moved to our new server. With more sleep from Si than expected (100Mbps copying is sooooooo slow), we now have all our servers running on our new server.

A list of IPs you might want to know:
Mumble: 87.117.200.71:64738
Team Fortress 2: 87.117.200.71:27016
Left 4 Dead: 87.117.200.71:27020

The old website server is now being phased out and if you are using old dns records we will fail to exist until you flush your dns records. Usually this is done automatically by restarting everything.

Change is coming!

This is just a heads up about a big change that will be coming towards the end of the month.

We are getting a new, more powerful, server that will allow us to run more stuff

We are getting the new server on the 29th and the current one will be turned off on the 1st. The new server will have different IPs, though we will try to minimise the hassle associated with the change.

Hopefully we will be able to keep our services running with as little interruption as possible, and we will keep you up to date closer to the time.

Also, we will be using this as an opportunity to push us forward and try and get our servers and community even more popular.

Thanks to all the donators who make this possible and thanks to everyone who makes this community what it is.

Si has spent most of the night restoring the data from our latest backup. We unfortunately have lost a couple of days worth of forum posts, but apart from that we're all good.

A little bit of downtime - 25/08/09

Umm oh hai,

Just so you all know, the Techious server box will be moving on the 25th of this month. This is because our server host has basically built a new building for the server and is moving it.

The exact time of the move will be in a 2 hour slot between 22:00 on 25/08/2009 and 05:00 on 26/08/2009, however as I will be asleep during the early hours, if it is late then some services (Mumble, TS, Game Servers) could be down as far as 10am.

What this means for you? Well nothing really, just that stuff won't be available for a few hours, but again I'm sure we've survived worse

Hello and welcome to our shiny new site, courtesy of Si!

There are parts of it that aren't quite finished yet, but will be over the coming weeks, so here's some of the things that are/will be featured on this new site;

Cleaner visual style
The new site looks a lot nicer and is more consistent. We've also cleaned up some of the things that weren't used, such as the Google search.

New Dashboard
The dashboard has been vastly improved with new features to make it more useful and is now accessible to everyone to promote community. It will be the centre for information published here aswell as having a few fun things, so is well worth keeping an eye on!

New Events
A new event system has been added, allowing for a much more versatile and useful creation and watching of events, which we hope will encourage people to participate (and not miss when they're due).

Polls
We've got a new polling system, which will be used primarily for a rejuvenated Community Friday system, among other things.

New Download System
The SourceTV download system has been improved to make it faster and more useful, as well as tying it into the new events system for even easier identification of the files you want.

I'm sure Si will remember some other things or correct some of what I've said ^^

As some of you are aware, at the LAN we will be unveiling the new Techious website, powered by the latest and greatest version of the SpcookCMS platform, having been developed for the past 6 months or so. This will be available for you all to play with as of Midnight on Monday 27th July. Obviously such a large overhaul in the Techious subsystems, we will need to take down some services in order to work.

As a result, the following Techious.com services will be down on Sunday 26th July:
