Heya everyone,

Since I've been out of CSS for such a long time, and now I have a much better broadband(20mb) connection I wonder if I am using the right rates etc. Also if there is any other commands I should be using in my cfg.

Here's what I'm using:

cl_cmdrate "101"
cl_updaterate "101"
rate "25000"

I get a bit of choke every so often, not sure how to fix that. Reg is usually really good but then some people I find unhittable.

quite a few peeps run default rates think 100 100 20000 wha most peeps that care are useing

rate 25000, 100, 100 are considered perfect rates by those who play wars . many players such as myself raise the 25000 to 30000 but tbh the rates you have are more than acceptable on any server.

It's worth noting that we run our pub server 66 tick, so your 100s will only be 66, it makes no difference to most perception, but makes the server require less processing power (which can actually mean it's less likely to lag). Our war servers will run 100, though.

While reg and stuff is good, try firing an AK on a 66 tick compared to a 100 tick server, same with MP5, quite a difference.

ya I agree, 100 tick servers are defo noticeably better. Saying that I think the pub is great but at times reg is a bit weird.

I wonder if I should use lower rates. Some people I just can't hit while others go down instantly.

on a 66 tick its good to lower rates to 45-66 then u will see a big difference

crosshair cl_crosshairscale 3000 is good

Cheers Wynney, I'll give that a go. Is there anyway of checking if its a 66 tick server? On netgraph maybe?

hehe zelda 3000 is a bit extreme, I use 2200 I think. Using quite a high res tho.

Does anyone use anything to boost gamma at all? Dunno if thats considered dodgy lol, back in the day everyone use to. I can't see anyone in the dark atm, don't really mind tho. I use to have it hotkeyed so I could change it in game.

and i use powerstrip in wars for stuff like dark areas in nuke - everyone changes those settings.

But for some reason the echo doesn't work, so it doesnt say [Rates 25000-100-100] like it is suppose to. Any ideas? Do you guys use any scripts which write on your screen when enabling them?

You could get it to say in chat using SAY if you wanted, I think.

Echo use to work so I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong in the script or echo has been removed from the game.

Try removing the space after Rates, just random might work
