 Introduction
» Introduction
While we prefer to take a relaxed attitude here at Techious, we would like to maintain order and these are the rules that should be followed in every single forum of this board, unless explicitly written otherwise. The rules will be enforced using a system of warnings and temporary bans (or permanent if you break too many rules). Warnings and bans can be handed out by all Moderators and the Admin. All users are subject to warnings and bans, except the Admin (Skillers), who cannot be banned due to security reasons (the board cannot be without an admin), however, the admin will abide by his own rules. I would like there to be no reason for these, and hope there is, however, they must be written.

» Reporting Rule Infringements
If you see a post that offends any of the following rules, please you the report button (little exclamation mark at the bottom right of every post) to report this for it to be further dealt with by a mod. With your report please include the text you get from pressing the "quote" button in the further information box. This means the post's content is preserved as is at the time of the report. The report is then sent to the moderators for appropriate processing. Side note to moderators; you can see 2 exclamation marks, the first one is the report button, the second one is the warn button. If you are certain that the post is breaking a rule, use the warn button and instantly deal with it, including all appropriate material in the warning information, including post data. however, if you are unsure, press the report button to have me look it over.

» Queries about Rules
If you have any questions or suggestions about the rules, then please PM one of the administrators or moderators and they will make sure that your question go to the right people.

 Warnings and Bans
» Warnings
The warnings will work on an exponential system, meaning that the first offence of a particular kind results in x amount of warnings (detailed below) and repeat offences will result in the amount of warnings being given getting doubled each time. For example, if you spam (first warning is one warning) 3 times you will get 1+2+4=7 warnings in total. If you spam again you will get another 8 warnings, bringing your total to 15 (plus more for other offences). A warning will not expire.

» Bans
Bans are issued based on the number of warnings you have received. You serve a ban once for each number of warnings detailed below. If you receive enough warnings to trigger multiple bans, you will receive the longest ban appropriate for that range. Repeat offences of a certain type my result in a reduced ban but with other consequences. For example, if you repeatedly spam, you may be put on the moderator queue, which means you will have to wait a for a a moderator to approve your post before it can be read by all users. The below format is;
Amount of warnings (comma [,] separates different values) - Ban time

2 - 1 hour
5, 15, 35, 45, 55, 65, 85, 95, 105, 115, 135, 145, 155, 165, 185, 195 - 6 hours
10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 70, 80, 90, 110, 120, 130, 140, 160, 170, 180, 190 - 1 day
25, 75, 125, 175 - 1 week (7 days)
50, 150 - 2 weeks
100 - 1 month
200 - Permanent

 Posting Rules
» Spam
Warnings: 1

Spam can be defined as any post that serves no relevance to the forum or topic (though drifting off topic does not count in this). Posting lots of website links is spam, unless done in the pimping forum (unless the website is appropriate to the topic or you are using the website for reference in the post (such as linking a specific Inquirer article)). Posting lots of replies with little or no content, or posting the same content repeatedly (double posting is alright, as people make mistakes) class as spam. If you are caught mass spamming you will be banned immediately for 1 hour, but still receive the warnings.

Top

» Swearing
Warnings: 1

Excessive or extreme swearing will result in a warning. Minor or irregular swearing is permitted, just don't take it too far. This is at the moderators' discretion.

Top

» Insults
Warnings: 2

Insulting other members is a serious offence on these forums as we like to keep a friendly atmosphere on this board. Whether something is an insult or not is at the moderators' discretion.

Top

» Warez
Warnings: 2

Posting warez links or requesting illegal material is not allowed on this forum. Torrents are not classed as this, as long as they are for legitimate content, such as Linux.

Top

» Pictures of certain natures
Warnings: 2

Pornographic, disgusting or insulting pictures are against the rules of this forum. This includes shock sites and linking to such images.

Top

» Racism/fascism/etc.
Warnings: 2

Anything derogatory said about any race, sex or creed comes under this.

Top

» Flaming
Warnings: 2

Flaming is essentially a very severe argument, often targeted at an individual or group of users for what they have said. Remember, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Top

» Post Hacking
Writing stupid characters to make stuff on the forum break will result in a 1 week ban for the first offence. 1 month for the second and a permenant ban for the third offence.

Top

» Double Posting
Warnings: 0

Double or triple posting should be avoided, unless significant time has passed. If you wish to add something to a previous post that is fairly new, please EDIT the previous post. If the post is old, you may double post to bring attention to it. Double posts due to timing out can be fixed by deleting the second post (x in bottom right corner). Mods should merge/delete double posts and note it underneath.

 Signature Rules
» Signature Length
A signature can only be 8 lines long if you have no banner image, or if you have a banner image a maximum of 2 lines are allowed. This is to keep the forum tidy and to stop massive gaps between posts due to massive signatures. If your signature does not comply with these rules, then an admin will remove it and alert you to this problem.

Top

» Signature Content
Signatures should keep to the regular forum rules as far as swearing, insults, etc. go. Warnings for these are in line with normal posts, as well as potentially having your ability to have a signature removed.

Top

» Maximum Image Size
The maximum size an image can be in a signature is 600px by 100px. 600px by 100px sig image

This again is to stop massive gaps between posts, and to make the forum more friendly to dial-up users.
